King’s Church Hastings is a diverse community of around 600 people who come together to worship God and grow in their faith.
Paul and Chloe both grew up in Hastings and have been part of our church for many years. Paul leads the church, bringing experience in commerce from his previous career in the building industry. As a couple, they are passionate about the church being actively involved in the local community. Their four boys keep them very busy, though Paul still finds time to support Gillingham FC and Chloe works at Next and helps at NRG on Sunday mornings.
Steve and Lori have been part of King’s Church for many years. Steve is part of the eldership team of the church, one of our trustees and responsible for Community Groups, and Lori works part-time as the church’s finance officer. Together, they run Friends International Community Group and are pastoral deacons in the church. Steve and Lori are practically famous for their hospitality and they especially love making people from other nations feel welcome here.
Aled grew up in Hastings and has been part of the church since he was a child. Louise moved to Portugal with her parents when she was a child to start a church there, before moving to Hastings as a teenager to volunteer with our church for a year. Aled works full-time for the church, overseeing our worship team, PA/AV, lighting, youth, children’s work and students & 20s. Aled & Lou are both qualified teachers, pastoral deacons, and love curry! They have two young daughters.
Andrew is one of our paid leadership intern, heading up n:gage, our Sunday morning group for 7-11s, and working in the areas of teaching and theology, while also studying for his MA in Biblical Studies. Andrew is author of Who In Heaven's Name Do You Think You Are?
Su runs the church office and is Paul Mann’s PA.
Laura manages Coffee Box.
Tracy manages our in-house catering team.
Jo is one of our paid leadership interns, heading up our Impact volunteers, plus leading worship, developing our creativity, and serving on the youth leadership team. Jo wrote the title track on the church's debut worship album, Found in You.
Natalie is our communications manager and oversees our community engagement and social action. She is also a church trustee. Natalie is co-author of The Myth of the Undeserving Poor.
This year we have four volunteers on a gap year known as ‘Impact’. They are Elsa Basle from France, Alfie Head from the East End of London, and Hastings locals Daniel Earwaker and Sarah Piper. They work very hard wherever they’re needed, but each with a particular focus, such as worship, children's work, dance, PA/AV or social action.
The King’s Church leadership team is supported by a team of pastoral deacons. These are men and women who are mature Christians, have been involved in church life here in Hastings for some years and are highly respected among the church community for the way they care for people and their wisdom in helping members through difficult or challenging situations. If you are going through a difficult time and would like pastoral support, please contact us.
As a registered charity, we have a board of trustees overseeing the financial and legal responsibilities of the church. Our current trustees are Martin Clarke (chair), Gary Dyer, Fiona Webb, Steve Young and Natalie Williams.
We have a qualified Child Protection & Safeguarding Team led by Anita Rose. They ensure that all of our children's workers and those who work with vulnerable adults are fully police-checked and trained in accordance with our Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy.
