Prayer shows you care

I love it when I've just finished telling someone about a tough decision I'm trying to make or a tricky situation I'm facing or a challenging time I'm going through and their response is simply: "Let me just pray for you right now."

When they take my burden and on my behalf hand it over to God, I find it so encouraging and releasing. It reminds me that, "Our Lord, God and Saviour daily bears our burdens" (Ps 68) and that Jesus invites all of us who are weary and burdened to come to Him.

The apostle Paul faithfully prayed for the people in the churches he supported. He prayed that they would have knowledge, wisdom and insight, that they would bear fruit and have strength from God to persevere and exercise patience. I'd be pretty happy to have that prayed for me!

Jesus too prayed for his disciples and for all believers. So be encouraged from this Season of Prayer, Fasting & Giving, whenever a need is mentioned by a friend, right there and then offer their situation to God and lay claim to the promises in His word, knowing that "the Lord is near to all who call on Him" (Ps 145) and when you "commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act." (Ps 68).

Reading: Psalm 68:19
Next Prayer Meeting: Tomorrow at 7am (all welcome)
