SELECTED STORY: THE POWER OF GOOD FRIENDS

“For the last 18 months I have lived with the uncertainty of whether my husband and I would have a home to live in.”

Su Butler
When Jeremy Simpkins preached at King’s during the summer, he asked all those who needed encouragement to stand up. I didn’t stand up; I was praising God that I could have been someone feeling that way but that I wasn’t.

For the last 18 months I have lived with the uncertainty of whether my husband and I would have a home to live in. By the time that Jeremy was preaching, we knew that we would not be able to live in the house we have recently bought and that it would have to be demolished meaning we’d lose all the money we had paid for it. I definitely should have felt discouraged. But I didn’t, and I want to thank God and our church family for the patience and grace I have felt throughout this time.

Whatever the future holds, I know our amazing friends surround us and support us, constantly asking how we are, reminding us that God is carrying us through this, encouraging and loving us, and supporting us with their prayers.
