Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast

It is not everyday that breakfast is accompanied by an incredible orchestra, a renowned Oxford University professor and 600 politicians and politcally engaged Christians! But on Tuesday King's Church's Paul Mann and Natalie Williams met up with local MP Amber Rudd in the Great Hall at Westminster for the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast.

We were delighted when Amber accepted our invitation to the event, which this year focused on the theme of 'God and Society: Belief in God in 21st Century Britain', as we are keen to honour those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-3) and to get to know those who make decisions affecting our communities. Over breakfast, we heard a little about Amber's life as a fairly new MP (she was elected in 2010) and the pressures of a busy constituency, from which she receives 200-300 letters each week.

The breakfast included an excellent address by Professor John Lennox (the transcript is here), prayers led by MPs from each of the three main political parties and different church leaders, and a clear presentation of the Gospel from Tim Farron MP.

If you would like to hear more about our time at the breakfast, please feel free to ask Natalie about it on Sunday.
