WHAT DOES A DISCIPLE LOOK LIKE?

Yesterday we were overwhelmed by the generosity of local shoppers at Tesco in Hollington, who donated a ton of food (1,000kg) as part of the supermarket's Every Can Helps event with the Trussell Trust.
Tesco staff collected over 200kg of food on Friday, while Hastings Foodbank volunteers received 800kg in donations from customers yesterday – a record high for one day!
Since the foodbank opened 15 months ago, we have fed over 2,500 local people, and in recent months the need has been increasing to the point where we are giving out more food than we are receiving in. Supermarket collections such as this are absolutely crucial for replenishing stocks, so we are grateful to Tesco for their support and for promising to top up the 1,000kg donations by an additional 30%!
We were also pleased to have the support of local politicians during the collection, with local Conserative MP Amber Rudd spending an hour with us asking shoppers to pick up an item or two for our trolleys, and local Labour Parliamentary Candidate Sarah Owen donating a trolley-load of food for local people in crisis situations.
