24th February 2015
On Sunday 15 February, NRG and N:Gage, our children’s groups for 4-11 year olds, came together for a morning of praying in our Prayground. Both groups are just coming to the end of a series about David. Each week we’ve been hearing a bit more about David’s life story and learning what it means to be a person after God’s own heart and how David points forward a greater king: Jesus.
Praygrounds are held at the end of each series and aim to provide lots of different ways to help our children pray, so that they can learn to pray in all circumstances. We do this by rotating around six different prayer stations, each with a different focus and a different activity. Since David was our theme this week, each station was based around an event from David’s life or a Psalm written by him.
One highlight was a prayer station inspired by Psalm 19, which focused on worshipping and thanking God for His creation. The children listened to the song Indescribable and were invited to write or draw something to express their worship. They produced some fantastic artwork and prayers, and some children felt God speak to them and give them prophetic words for the children’s groups.
The following Sunday we finished our David series with a praise party, remembering that David was a man who loved to worship God!
