Bringing God's kingdom to Hastings

Many of us who were at Chris Kilby's visit a number of months ago were looking forward to his visit to spend a day with us last Saturday (15th September).

Almost 80 of us piled into The Hastings Centre at 10am that morning and right from the start there was a sense of expectation in the air. After a time of worship, Chris inspired us with a mixture of training from the Bible and exciting testimonies of his weekly trips onto the streets of Southampton or other locations he is helping with. God is clearly using him and his team and you could sense faith rising in the room as testimonies of God's presence and power out on the streets were recounted.

After some practicalities about what to do when praying for people and also tips on 'treasure-hunting', we had a brief lunch, prayed together and then the brave souls that were 'up for it' proceeded down to the town centre.

We set up a healing banner and four chairs with the words 'healing' on them in the space between Costa, Café Nero and Jempsons. Then some teams went out 'treasure-hunting' and the rest stayed near the chairs, handing out invitations to the Alpha taster that evening and asking people if they wanted prayer for healing. Many responded and the four chairs were more often than not occupied with people being touched by our loving heavenly Father.

The kingdom of God came to Hastings town centre that afternoon and there were so many testimonies of what God was doing: among them, four teenagers responded to the gospel and some people who asked for prayer for healing reported that their pain had gone.

We must do this again and I urge anybody who is considering it to have a chat with those of us who went. God loves this town and He wants to use YOU to reach it.
